Leather Characteristics and Qualities. Not all executive leather chairs are created equal. The same way that leather shoes and bags vary in quality, leather chairs use varying leather grades and types. \"Full-grain leather\" is the highest leather grade available for furniture and other leather products. It is durable and is characterized by a natural look with visible and unique grains and markings from animal skin. \"Corrected grain leather,\" on the other hand, is a grade lower than full grain leather. This leather grade is made ready by buffing or sanding, getting rid of imperfection. It is highly durable and stylish as well. High quality leather is suitable in a high-impact environment. It is up to the buyer which look he prefers better. Leather retains its physical characteristics even after years of use. To preserve its quality better, your executive leather chair needs regular maintenance. A special cleaner or conditioner is usually needed. Also, it helps to keep leather away from radiators and direct sunlight.
Quality of leather furniture varies according to the type of grains. Upscale Oak dining furnishings are made of full grain leather. Obtained from the best quality hide, full grain fabric retains the original marking of natural skin. Top grain leather is another common type of leather, in which, sanding process is applied to remove the original grains from the top surface of the hide to give it a uniform appearance. Additional processing such as buffing and stamping are applied to create corrected leather grains. Bonded fabric, split-grains leather and patent leather are other types of fabric that are used in the furniture industry.
